The Sierpinski triangle is a fractal whose envelope is an
equilateral triangle and which is composed of three half-sized
Sierpinski triangles.
A fractal is a geometric shape which is self-similar and has
fractional dimension. The Polish mathematician Waclaw Sierpinski
(1882-1969) introduced his fractal in 1916.
