Antapaccay Project, Xstrata Tintaya Mine
Expansion
Antapaccay
The Antapaccay deposit is located 9
kilometres from Xstrata Copper’s Tintaya
mine in southern Peru. The deposit
consists of two adjacent mineral
structures: Antapaccay North and
Antapaccay South. A favourable
feasibility study into the development
of the Antapaccay project as a
brownfield expansion to Tintaya was
completed in October 2009. The
feasibility study identified an
estimated investment of US$1.4 billion
to construct an operation that will
produce an average of 160,000 tonnes of
copper per annum over at least 20 years
commencing in mid-2012. Source
