"The Road Not Taken" is a poem by Robert Frost,
published in 1916 in the collection Mountain Interval, it is the first poem
in the volume and is printed in italics. The title is often mistakenly given
as "The Road Less Traveled", from the penultimate line: "I took the one less
traveled by".
Robert Lee Frost (1874 - 1963) was an American poet. He
is highly regarded for his realistic depictions of rural life and his
command of American colloquial speech. His work frequently employed settings
from rural life in New England in the early twentieth century, using them to
